Narconon is recognised throughout the world as the leader in residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Narconon uses a holistic approach to help people live productive drug-free lives.

Narconon was founded by William Benitez, an inmate of Arizona State Prison,  in 1966. Benitez read a book by American author L. Ron Hubbard, and by applying the principles it contained on increasing one's abilities, he and dozens of other inmates were able to permanently end their addictions to heroin. The Narconon drug rehab programme has evolved from that simple beginning to a worldwide network of drug prevention and drug-free social education rehabilitation centres.

The NARCONON Network

The unique points about the Narconon programme are:-

1. Drug FREE withdrawal. Narconon doesn't use prescribed drugs to solve the drug problem. They use vitamins, minerals, diet and assists (similar to light massage) to help people through the withdrawal period.

2. New Life Detoxification (sauna) programme. This is an exact daily regime of nutritional supplements, diet, supervised exercise and periods of time sweating in a dry sauna to rid the fatty tissues of these drug residues and toxins.

3. Life Skills Courses. The programme gives heavy emphasis to improving a person’s ability to deal with life. Some of the areas addressed are confronting skills, communication skills, study skills, integrity, anti-social versus social people, goals and social conduct. The result is an individual more comfortable with his life and able to do well. The practice of these skills is extremely therapeutic in and of itself.
